FastDay Friends: Top tips for counting calories!

View this email in your browser

Hi there errantbehavior!

I don't know about you, but I like to keep things simple! A quick and easy home-cooked meal on a fast day is perfect, something I can make time and again and know what to throw in it without having to weigh or measure. The problem is, it's easy to become complacent and before I know it, there's a little bit more of this or that being thrown in and the calories creep up and up.

Just as important as weighing and measuring yourself regularly to keep on the right track, you should be careful to weigh and measure your fast day food too - it's surprising how quickly a 'little extra' here and there can add up! I recently got a set of smart food scales to help keep tabs on my intake and I have to say I think they're really useful. I like them so much that I managed to arrange a discount code just for FastDay members, in case any of you would like  a set too!  See below for details :)

Mary-Ann lost over 20% of her body weight with 5:2!

"At the age of 14, weighing a slightly heavy, but athletic 130lbs, I stopped eating. This lasted a year, after which I weighed 75lbs. At some point it hit me how scary it was being so underweight, and I started eating again. I ended up at ~150lbs and stayed that way for many years..."

FastDay Friends: How do you stay motivated?

View this email in your browser

Hello errantbehavior, how's it going?

I hope the fasting is still going well and that you're enjoying better health and your favourite foods as well!

Of course there are times when we all start to lose motivation a little - maybe the scales haven't shifted for a while or perhaps your fast day meals are starting to feel a bit boring. With this in mind, I hope that this week's newsletter will inspire you to keep going, with tips for what to do if your weight loss is stuck, some nice creative progress trackers to motivate you and a recipe that I can still barely believe is fast day friendly!

Kerrie's 5:2 transformation is such an inspiration!

"A combination of ceasing to have my teenage metabolism alongside not being force to exercise (and discovering beer!) meant I've been some form of overweight all my adult life.  But as I got older the weight just crept on and on as the years went by.  By the time I started, I had a BMI of nearly 35 and a pelvis that just couldn't support me anymore..."

"Murgh Moog" Indian Takeaway Style Curry Sauce

166 calories per serving

Who says fast day food has to be boring and uninspiring? Here's a dish to really look forward to!

This is based on a recipe I was taught by a friend's husband, who had an Indian restaurant. The sauce is as good as anything from your local curry house and is surprisingly low calorie, allowing plenty for your meat or vegetables as well as a side such as brown rice, cauliflower rice or a nice bed of spinach.
