FastDay Friends Weekly: How much energy does your body need?

View this email in your browser

Hi errantbehavior, I hope you've had a nice week.

This week I've taken a week off work to indulge in a bit of much needed 'me time'. I fasted 3 times during the week, but the scales simply didn't budge. How frustrating! It happens to us all at times and can be for a variety of reasons. Scales can be such horrible liars.

In my case though, it comes down to TDEE - Total Daily Energy Expenditure. My feed day nibbling this week (not to mention over indulgence during the Easter weekend) has effectively cancelled out the calorie deficit from my fasts. Doh! This is so easily done if you eat without planning and if you're not aware of your body's needs. A little pinch of this and that while you're cooking can pack quite a shocking calorie punch!

Did you know that as you lose weight your body needs less fuel and therefore you should be eating less overall as time goes by? If you use our Progress Tracker at FastDay, you'll see how your 'TDEE' changes as you lose weight. Many of us find our appetites decrease from fasting anyway, but it can be helpful to keep an eye on this if you're struggling.

FastDay Friends Weekly: Should you tell your kids about fasting?

View this email in your browser

Happy Easter, errantbehavior!

I hope you're not fasting today and are instead enjoying some delicious Easter treats - whether it's a chocolate egg, Easter biscuits or Hot Cross Buns, we can enjoy them guilt-free on a feed day!

Of course, Easter also means it's the school holidays and for many fasters this means either a break from the ol' 5:2 or trying hard to not to reveal their fasting habits from their young children. If you've got kids and aren't sure  how you can handle fasting when they're around, scroll down for a handy article about Fasting when you've got children.

If you've been taking a break from fasting and need a bit of help getting back on the right track, our friends over at Ways of Eating are running another 6 week "Fast Start" program which begins on April 9th, you can find out more about this educational and inspirational course here.

Cheryl's lost almost 7 stone (so far!) with the 5:2 diet!

"February 2013 after hearing/discussing the Horizon programme with work mates we purchased the book, read it through a couple times and decided to give it a go. Three of us started, 2 weeks in one gave in..."

View this email in your browser

Hiya errantbehavior, where do you see yourself in 6 months?

As I started work on today's newsletter I realised that this is issue 26, meaning the FastDay Friends Weekly newsletter has been running for a whole 6 months!

A lot can happen in 6 months, especially when you're an intermittent faster! I wonder how much your Progress Tracker chart has changed in that amount of time... and how it will look in another 6 months? Did you know that tracking your weight loss makes you more likely to achieve your goals? If you're not tracking or have stopped doing so, now would be a great time to get on to the FastDay Progress Tracker - in 6 months' time you'll thank yourself for doing it!

Corey's 5:2 diet transformation took him just 6 months!

"I started my health journey 6 months ago. After spending most of my adult life fluctuating between overweight and obese, I decided my lifestyle needed to change...."
